Come on Spring...

Ah come, come quickly, spring!
come and lift us towards our culmination, we myriads;
we who have never flowered, like patient cactuses.
Come and lift us to our end, to blossom, bring us to our summer
we who are winter-weary in the winter of the of the world.

D. H. Lawrence,  Craving for Spring

Just checking... it was the first day of spring the other day, wasn't it? Well, I patiently await you Spring... My Birks are by the front door...

... my spring coat is hung in the closet... my gardening bag is poised and waiting for action... and my toes are awaiting a much needed pedicure, in anticipation of bare foot strolls along the beach...

... I'm ready, when you are...

  1. It arrived in South Yorks yesterday - but today is a little more overcast. No cardi on though so thats a good sign.

  2. Snow here too! How many weeks now has it been since that groundhog made his prediction??
    xo Cathy

  3. hellllllo you......
oh i truly can't believe you still have snow!!!
    what is going on ??

it's spring...i'm sending you a photo of daffs in the next village along from ours....i had to whip the car into a country lane and take a quick snap with my i-phone for you....

if it helps- my birkies are still sitting by the front door and my hunters are still getting more of a day out...but i did where my spring mac the other day....and the comments of spring time were coming thick and fast!!!

will send you the daffs and some sunshine...

  4. I love the poem (I had never read it). And I love your post. I hope you experience some spring quite soon!

  5. Six inches in
    MN yesterday!!
    But at least
    we know it is
    short-lived, right??
    And think how
    SWEET it is going
    to be when it
    finally arrives,
    for good.
    Happy Thursday!
    xx Suzanne

  6. It is so cold here as well. A pedicure sounds very relaxing and uplifting! Hang in there...spring is just around the corner!

  7. Oh yes please! Hurry up spring. We're all getting a little impatient now!

  8. We have had a couple of days sunshine back here blighty but not dusting off the flipflops just yet it will be cold again nect week. Keeping my fingers crossed for a warm Easter

  9. Laura, you still have snow...we haven't had any since Christmas...quite a surprise. However, the last few days for us have been brilliant...lots of sunshine and a balmy 16 degrees! However, I think we're being lulled into a false sense of security...bad weather is coming on the weekend...of course! Robx

  10. Hi Laura, I don't like to tell you this, but we are enjoying 18 degrees lovely sunshine all day, and people on the beach having barbecues!! Is this England?? Sorry I am sure spring will come very soon for you and we will be back into winter by the weekend!

  11. Yes, it's been really warm here this week (in Uk - South), but going to get cooler again at the weekend. Lots of lovely Spring flowers everywhere though. Hope it arrives for you soon! Abby x

  14. What lovely photographs! If that means it's autumn here in Aus, why do I have spring bulbs out?
    Have a lovely weekend!

  15. So sorry to see you still have snow - but at least you have some daffodils to look out your window. Hopefully your last snow of the season? Sending warm thoughts your way XOL
